April 20 (UPI) — A French billiards player and trick shot expert constructed the world’s largest pool cue and set five other billiards-related records.

Florian “Venom Trickshots” Kohler, 28, brought the 17-foot, 7.4-inch long pool cue to an event in Las Vegas to claim the Guinness World Record for “longest usable pool cue.”

The cue was created by Kohler’s sponsor using the same materials as a normal cue, but Kohler’s skills were required to prove the cue could be used to complete an actual game of billiards.

“I didn’t realize until just before the attempt that I had to play a whole rack with it…which I had a good laugh at after finding out,” he said. “It certainly wasn’t my best game of pool but it was a fun and challenging record to attempt!”

The weight of the cue presented an obstacle, but he was ultimately able to strike the cue ball to break and sink eight more balls.

“What none of us realized was how heavy the cue would become, causing it to bend when I held it which made things quite difficult,” Kohler said.

Kohler then proceeded to set five more trick shot records including most pool balls potted into the middle pocket over an obstacle in one minute, highest jump pot of a billiard ball, fastest time to jump pot 15 pool balls (U.S. table), fastest time to jump pot 15 pool balls (U.S. table), one-handed, and longest duration to spin a billiard ball.

In addition to his six new world records, Koehler also came away from his trip to Vegas with a special souvenir.

“Luckily the cue can be broken down into many pieces, so it’ll be in my garage until someone tries beat this record…in which case I’ll be right back at this again!” He said.
